App | Sonnet Shift
PROJECT DETAILS
Background:
In response to the rise of usage-based insurance (UBI) options in the Canadian marketplace, Sonnet Insurance launched their Sonnet Shift product in September of 2023, offering drivers enhanced control over their premium while promoting safer driving habits. The Definity Press Release expands on the product: “Sonnet Shift is the first ever UBI product in Canada to offer quarterly price adjustments based on recent driving scores. The tailored insurance solution empowers each driver with the ability to oversee their own premium. Powered by The Floow advanced telematics and Munich Re Global Consulting, Sonnet Shift uses individual driving behaviours and preferences as the main factor for pricing, including time of day, fatigue, smooth driving, speed, mobile distraction, and road risk.”
Solution:
Although usage-based insurance is not new to the market or to customers, overall awareness and understanding is low. The Sonnet Shift product is particularly unique and while it offers increased flexibility and savings for customers, it also adds complexity for the user. I worked closely with the ux designer and product team to balance the expectations and needs of the user with the detailed requirements of the product. From onboarding screens to breaking down their driving score and tooltips to explain product terms – clear, concise and consistent microcopy was key to effectively guiding users through the app user journey. I also delivered app requirements, description, categorization, and keywords as per specifications as part of the submission to the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
Results:
The Sonnet Insurance (Sonnet Shift) app has a 3.7-star rating on the Apple Store and has over 5000 downloads on the Google Play Store.
